On March 24, Dr. Xu Chen visited our school and gave a lecture titled “Total Synthesis of Ryanodol: New Methods and Strategies for the Synthesis of Polycyclic Natural Products”. In this lecture, Dr. Xu introduced her postdoctoral work with Sarah E. Reisman in California Institute of Technology and had an intense discussion with the professors and students.
Dr. Xu earned her Ph.D. in chemistry in 2011 at the School of Chemical Biology and Biotechnology (SCBB) of Peking University. Her thesis detailed the Construction of ring skeleton of calyciphylline alkaloid Daphnilongeranin B. After that, she joined Sarah E. Reisman group in Caltech and started pursuing the total synthesis of Ryanodol and related natural products.
