Ubiquitination Signaling Pathway Research

Position Requirements:

1)Have obtained a Ph.D. degree within the last three years from a domestic or international institution and be 35 years of age or younger.

2) Published SCI-indexed papers as the first author in international journals during the Ph.D. period and possess the ability to conduct scientific research independently to a certain extent.

Introduction to the Research Group/Principal Investigator:

Our research interest lies in developing small-molecule chemical drugs for anti-tumor and anti-viral applications. Our focus is on cancer-related signaling pathways, particularly key target proteins within the ubiquitination system, such as deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs). We employ structure-based drug design and fragment-based drug development methods to create targeted lead compounds with high specificity and affinity.

We also conduct cell biology research on signal transduction within the ubiquitin-proteasome system, primarily concentrating on signaling pathways closely associated with cancer development and progression. Our aim is to elucidate the regulatory roles of important proteins in oncogenesis and to discover novel targets for anticancer drug development.

In the field of kinase research, we engage in the development of small-molecule inhibitors and mechanistic studies of disease-related target proteins. Currently, we have extensive experience and have developed a unique and systematic research approach in the pseudokinase-ribonuclease L (RNase L) project.

Dr. Huang Hao earned his Ph.D. from the University of Calgary in Canada and previously held a permanent position as a Senior Researcher at Astex Pharmaceuticals in the UK, focusing on targeted drug development against the ubiquitin-proteasome system and kinases. Since August 2016, he has servedas a Specially Appointed Researcher/Tenured Associate Professor (2024) at Peking University and as a Dual-appointment Principal Investigator (PI) Researcher at Shenzhen Bay Laboratory since April 2022. Dr. Huang Hao has received several awards, including the Canadian CIHR Postdoctoral Fellowship, the National Overseas Young Experts award, and the Bayer-Peking University Researcher award.

Dr. Huang Hao has published multiple high-impact research papers as the first author in the fields of chemical biology, structural biology, and cell biology, including inNat. Chem. Biol.(2014),Mol. Cell(2014), andJ. Am. Chem. Soc.(2012). Since returning to China in 2016, he has published as a corresponding author in journals such asPNAS(2020),Nat. Commun.(2021),J. Med. Chem.(2022),Sci. Signal(2023a, 2023b),Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.(2023), andCell Rep. (2024).

Benefits:

1)The basic compensation package includes national statutory benefits, social insurance and housing fund contributions, and policies regarding household registration (hukou) and children's enrollment in kindergarten/school, which are implemented in accordance with the relevant regulations of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School. Applicants are eligible to apply for the university's talent-oriented housing.

1)Support is provided for applying to the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.

2)Postdoctoral researchers with outstanding scientific performance who meet the application criteria may apply for Shenzhen's high-level talent programs or other preferential talent policies. Upon approval, they will receive various forms of matching support from the Shenzhen municipal government. After completing the postdoctoral term, based on work performance and personal preference, they may be appointed as Assistant/Associate Researchers within this research group or receive assistance in securing positions at high-level domestic or international laboratories for further development. Since its establishment in 2016, this laboratory has had three postdoctoral researchers from the unit successfully obtain the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Young Scientist Fund (two from the Chemistry Division and one from the Biology Division).

3)We provide a first-class working environment, sufficient research funding, and well-equipped experimental instruments, with a certain degree of freedom in choosing research directions.
