On July 1, 2015 in the morning 10:30，with Prof. Wu Yun-Dong’s invitation，Prof. Zhou, from Institute for Glycomics, Griffith University，gave us a great academic report in E104.
Prof. Zhou has been long engaged in the study of structural bioinformatics, and had rank near the top of many international competitions, such as Critical Assessment of protein Structure Prediction (CASP) and CAGI. The title of Prof. Jiang’s report is ‘Toward Personalised Medicine & Drug Discovery by Integrated Computational and Experimental Studies’. Personalised medicine is a medical model that proposes the customization of healthcare with medical decisions, practices, and products being tailored to the individual patient. Two research projects are introduced. One is the pathogenic possibility from individual differences. The other is the specific protein vaccine designing. Their work is a successful story of combining experimental and computational approaches to explain and predict the behavior of biologically interesting macromolecules.
After the report, Prof. Zhou discussed with us actively to let us know the prospect of personalised medicine more deeply.
