On February 22, 2014 in the afternoon 16:00，with Prof. Wu Yun-Dong’s invitation，Prof. Rao Zi-He, gave us a great academic report in E104. Prof. Rao is the profess of School of life sciences, Tsinghua university,  Molecular biophysics and structural biologist, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, academician of the third world academy of sciences.
The title of Prof. Rao’s report is “Molecular mechanism of SCARB2-mediated attachment and uncoating of EV71”. Firstly, Prof. Rao introduced the small RNA virus causing hand-foot-and-mouth disease. Then, he concretely introduced the structures of the mature and empty state of EV71 and CVA16 virus. According to the structure, he proposed the mechanism of SCARB2-mediated attachment and uncoating of EV71 and the drug discovery. Finally, Prof. Rao discussed with us actively to let us know the importance of Nature Structural & Molecular Biology to study the virus.
